There are many on here who have done it without that. I replaced my water pump and didn't use any special tools. I remember jacking up the back as high as possible when filling it and running it with the bleeder valve open for a while. I don't remember the exact steps, but the procedure can be found on here. |

Like you, I replaced my water pump and thermostat, and coolant. I opened the bleeder cap...and several times drove down a nice steep hill next to my home. Good or bad... I left the bleeder open for a few days while keeping an eye on the coolant level. Never had to add any then, nor since. However... if I had a compressor, and the space to store it, likely I'd get that accu-appliance. When doing the math... I simply don't swap coolant enough to need the device. Made that mistake with my whatever-brand-name brake bleeder. Worked great, but has been sitting for better than a year waiting for the next brake fluid replacement. Cheers! |
Same! I'm sure vacuum method would be great but I simply opened the bleeder and kept an eye on fluid levels for a few days....
