Yes, both are much more exposed with the trans out,

Which one to buy or use. there are so many choices, different prices. which brand did you use?

I did get the original from Porsche since many has recommended to stay away from aftermarket due to strenght issues on the non original part and the fiddliness of changing the expansion tank.

YES.....don't "cheap out"! This is one example where YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. My indi ONLY uses genuine Porsche parts. If I had insisted to use an aftermarket tank he would only warranty his labor to be done correctly, NOT THE PART. So, IF the aftermarket tank failed, I would be on the hook for the part and the labor all over again to replace it.

Honestly, the whole job cost me about $900 (parts and labor). He had the car for an afternoon, I paid the bill and drove off happy with clean hands and "not frustrated".....LOL

I understand what you're saying...and there are definitely tasks on this car I've chosen not to attempt myself. But, frustrating as this job could be at times, when you get it done and everything's working as planned, all those "frustrations" just melt away!
