”Check Engine” 100 miles after IMS retrofit

Hi there,

I got myself a used 2003 Boxster S recently with 12 900 km on the meter (around 79 500 miles). It hade been serviced and well kept during its entire life cycle, but after reading horror stories about the IMS bearing failing, I decided to invest in a retrofit of a brand new IMS bearing.

I contaced a very well renowned racing team with a Porsche workshop who did the job. They also checked the clutch (no need to change it, they said, as it looked almost new). They - of course - also changed the oil.

Everything was great until the first time I shut off and restarted the car again after having driven aprox. 160 km (111 miles). Then the "Check Engine” light came on.

Now, there are no service slots available at any workshops until the end of July, but I am really anxious now.

The car sounds great, drives great and I can see no oil leaks or anything. What could have happened? Any guessses?
