Here in the States, you can go to Auto-Zone or Advance Auto and they'll do a free code scan for you, or at least lend you the reader for free.
Do your auto parts stores offer something similar? If so, like other have suggested, get the codes read and post them on here. And like PLP said, if it runs smooth, your engine is fine.
