Primary oil pump leak / replacement

My sons 987 appears to have a leak from the primary oil pump. Ive cleaned the location thoroughly, and it not RMS thankfully.
Has anyone had to replace the pump, and if so any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Looks like factory manual says its doable. And doesn’t appear to be a tough job.
Please correct t me if wrong, lol.

Yeah, the oil pump is fully enclosed within the oil sump. Are you referring to a secondary oil pump in a cylinder head?

The main pump is easy to access from the front of the engine, it`s right below the crank pulley. At least when the engine is out. Should be doable with the engine in place I think, I`ve never tried it though. I came across a youtube video a while ago where a guy was pulling it off from inside the car, from behind the seats. I don`t really understand the connection with the RMS, it`s on the rear side of the engine

Oil pump from the front of an '01 2.7L. Wasn't hard to pull with the engine out. Just stuff to unbolt and move.

Looks like fitment is '97 to '08. Not sure if the 987s are any different.
$100 shipped (USA only) if anyone wants it.

Pulling the front console off is no big deal. Removing the casing/coolant pipe assembly requires removing tensioners and potentially locking the cams
