Primary oil pump leak / replacement
My sons 987 appears to have a leak from the primary oil pump. Ive cleaned the location thoroughly, and it not RMS thankfully.
Has anyone had to replace the pump, and if so any tips would be greatly appreciated!!! Looks like factory manual says its doable. And doesn’t appear to be a tough job. Please correct t me if wrong, lol. |
Why do you think the pump is leaking ?
|
Yeah, the oil pump is fully enclosed within the oil sump. Are you referring to a secondary oil pump in a cylinder head?

Oil pump from the front of an '01 2.7L. Wasn't hard to pull with the engine out. Just stuff to unbolt and move.

Pulling the front console off is no big deal. Removing the casing/coolant pipe assembly requires removing tensioners and potentially locking the cams
