Those are fairly universally despised in the 986 community.

I like the car. Very nice.

I've seen that part on eBay and, if correctly I remember, it wasn't inexpensive. Your money could have been spent on a nice side skirt.

That said...

It doesn't look right. It looks incomplete. In my opinion, it draws the eyes from the otherwise great lines on the car.

Also... paint the spoiler... and attend to the clearance against the tail lights.

That said...

It's your car. It's a nice car.

I don't judge. I just opine.

Cheers!

His spoiler is painted. It's just the lighting.
The best you can probably do with those vents is black out the lower two "non vents"

Agree with darkening the lower 2 non vents. The illusion of all open would be better. You have a nice car!

Um, red.

Blacking out the lower "vents" puts it in the same category as the Bim i3 "grill"

With due respect (it is your car, not mine), I can't help but wonder why you continue to try to make your car look like something that it is not?
Why not simply sell it and just buy the Cayman that you so obviously really want?

I think the O.P. might see it a little different.

You can make a boxster into a Cayman(as much as possible), the reverse is not true, can't take the top off a Cayman.

The truth is, he has the best of both worlds, it's up to him to find a happy medium.

Having said that, I myself, am not keen on the side vents, not MY cup of tea. Factory side vents with silver accented vent slats maybe?....

Alas, to each their own!....

Love the car and conversation!.....

With due respect back, It's a toy, I like playing with it. If I didnt have projects I would be bored.
Its a Boxster with a hardtop and mods. If I wanted a Cayman I would buy one. 😀

I got these from a nice guy In Germany that posted them on a FBook Boxster page for $80. I figured Id paint them red, black out the bottom and they would look great. Blacked out the look awful. I may cut out the bottom 2 and put mesh behind them all?? |

I replied to your FB post with cut the vent holes out and mesh them hahaor scan some mesh and get printed at a sign shop, cut and stick haha that's got to work, I don't particularly like the vent but it can certainly be made to work, I like the ones that are slightly raised at the rear edge to give it a beefier look, some versions look awful, prob make my own...

Fair enough, and no worries.

Wasn't judging; was merely wondering since most all of your recent mods appear (to me) to come across as Cayman cloning.

Enough said, and carry on.

Thanks - DM

Do not change those wheels. Maybe body colour match them. Would look damn cool

My opinion (since you asked). I think you did a great job with your car up to this point. The hardtop looks great and you did an extremely nice job with it. Its time to stop! The vents just look like the add on they are. They make your car like a kit car.

All that being said. Mod on and have fun!

I have to agree, the vents just look cheap and ruin what you have done on the whole. Your car looks great and I love the mods but the vents, no.
