windstop
Just came back from vacation and I was placing my beach chair behind my passenger seat and I happen to notice I scratched the plastic windstop. It's a small scratch but if it's feasible I would like to replace it.
I have a few questions-
1. Has anyone ever placed a tint on the plastic windstop? If so, I would love to see some pics.
2. Where can i find just a replacement for the plastic windstop?
3. Does anyone know what the cost will be for a replacement?
A new windstop runs approx. $380. but I don't need any of the other parts.

dude,
i actually took off my windstop! i did not like the plastic design. now my car has better aero dynamics and mute my girlfriend's whining.
the cons- have to wear a cap or use a lot of hair gel.

hey i tinted my windows and my windstop. one thing i did like, because i have the plastic window on the back, was it looked pretty cool looking into the back and seeing the tinted windstop. adds to the privacy from the back window and at night made the back plastic window dark..if you get what i mean.
the tints however on the plastic windstop did not hold up very well. bubbly around the edges, but i know that i did not take very good care of it, and it was in my trunk flying around at times. i did push out most of the bubbles and it looks okay, not the best of. i am thinking about taking it back and trying it again.
another idea i have is to spray paint it with a tint, that might work out. i think this is a good idea if it works.
the other thing that you could try depending on the size of the scratch is.....scratch remover on plastics. i used this stuff on a couple of things and worked out really good. i love this ****************.

Your car doesn't have better aerodynamics now--the air that the windstop stops is the air that's rushing into the cabin from behind. Without the windstop, that air is STILL swirling around the car and affecting your drag coefficient.

On a slightly different subject...
One of my mesh windscreens fell off and got cracked up a bit....No good anymore. Since having just one looks bad, I decided to remove both the windscreens, and just keep the center windstop. I have noticed no increase in wind velocity with this arrangement. Any one else tried this? They seem to be mostly aesthetic in my opinion....

The guy was probably driving only 20mph
Who needs a wind stop at that speed

i too am not a big fan of the windscreens, besides the fact that one flew off and hit a boxster in the face at a really high speed. n now i own one side. they just dont do it for me.
the car looks so nice open from the back. wind who cares about wind its a convertible.

Hey Porscheracer, i finally got around to getting the tint spray. i will post a pic. i'm going to tint the plastic windstop. not sure if you remember back in the day, guys and there civics used to black out the rear lights. well i'm thinking that this should work on the plastic windstop.
should match well with my light tints. not sure about matching your limo tints, but may look good light.
then i may consider doing the rear plastic window, but kinda scared to attempt.
