That works in the early clusters, but on the '01 and up the EEPROMs are encrypted, so you can't just read the EEPROM, modify it and rewrite it. If you are lucky and get the exact same part number and firmware revisions you _might_ be able to swap files, but in my experience that doesn't work.

It can still be done obviously, but you need more equipment and software to do it.
