Newbie

Hello, I just recently moved to Arizona and sold my 1968 912 and I bought a 2000 Boxster S and Im here to say I cant be more happier. Some of the purist out here say I'm crazy for selling my 912 for a Boxster but this S just out performs my old 912 in everyway. Couple questions.. when my drivers side window is all the way up it jumps up and down by itself when the top is up so is this a easy fix? Also when I turn my head lights on it takes a few times for the lead lights to come on so Im thinking the switch is going bad, is this switch easy to remove? Sorry if these questions have already been asked.

Welcome to the Forum!

It sounds like the headlight switch is bad, which is not uncommon. The window could be a few things, but my first though would be a faulty top microswitch (the one that the top clamp triggers to lower the windows when you put the top up/down). Both are relatively simple/straight-forward fixes, and you can find DIY guides for both by doing a search.

It looks like you have litronics xenon headlights. As long as they come on while maybe not being the brightest they are operating correctly. It should not take long though for them to brighten up. It's just how xenon lights work. Maybe try the fog lamps which are halogen to find out if it's the switch or just the xenon low beams taking a while to brighten up. (Think like a fluorescent)

Welcome

You can try cleaning the headlight switch
do a search for lots of info on it

Basically get some contact or tuner cleaner and spray it into any hole or opening you can find on the switch as well as down the shaft. Then work the switch back and forth through all possible positions including pulling on it in the fog light positions. Then shake out what ever fluid you can. In any case it will evaporate in a minute or 2

Hopefully that will clean it up for you. I did mine over a year ago and it is still working perfectly

Welcome to the madness. If you're not sure what options came on the car from the factory, post a photo of the tag under the front hood.
