The upgraded engines are interesting but the devil is in the details, the fine details.
If you call about the car/engine you often get lots of bluster and very little technical content. When you inspect the car,receipts/sources are not available. Poking around you see signs of sloppy work. Smog Test? "Oh, sure it will pass!" .Perhaps it did last time but who knows in what circumstances ? The new Calif Smog Machines detect any change to the original ECU = instant fail + flagged as "Gross Polluter". That is a financial disaster to resolve.
Sadly the days of hot rodding engines and moding are severely limited now & come with unacceptable risks.
One simple question kills it :How will you pass future Smog Tests that use machines that fail any detectable variation from stock?
And yes, I do have a business interest in a Test Only Station & a Jag/Aston repair facility. Sadly lots of tears from those who made even innocuous mods now.
I suspect that
may be why the EBay/Coloado Boxster 3.8 was a problem to sell?
