Wishing you an uneventful Thursday, a dull time in the hospital, and a speedy convalescence!

Jake Raby 10-13-2015 08:24 AM

Standing by for the word!

Flirt with the nurses, its good for you.

Today had a pre-op meeting with the team I must have signed 30 medical forms ! Tomorrow will be light diet of jello and fluids..........great ! :( Tomorrow I will find out what time on Thursday I have the procedure. Should take about an hour and then post op recovery from the sedation. I will be able to go home that afternoon with post-op follow up on Friday. Take it easy over the weekend and back to work on Monday. Recover for two weeks ( roughly ) and turn Jake on to complete the build/transformation. Nov. and Dec. will have daily follow up treatments and then I'm done. My word of advice to ALL men out there get a yearly physical !!! That is how we caught my prostate cancer that I am being treated for. Doctors are telling me we caught this early, it is contained and very positive it can be cured/eliminated. That's the end of my public service announcement let's get back to the car ! :D

Glad and relieved to hear it was discovered early.
Our thoughts are with you.

Hey guys I am now home the procedure went exactly as planned this morning with no complications. So today is the first day of recovery ! I talked to Jake last night we now have a new timetable we're working to. I'll keep you guys up to date as we get closer to completion.

But who know's maybe in 5 years Jake calls me to let me know he's building 5 litre flat sixes and am I interested ? Stay tuned :D

Best of luck with your health and your build! Looking forward to seeing another high HP Boxster in the neighborhood... Just be careful about other "sleepers" prowling the streets of Marietta... you may get caught off guard :D

PS: 5 liters may not be enough ;)

John I followed your build thread I must say I'm impressed with your abilities. Lets face it no matter how much power you have someone else will have more. Whatever hp we end up with on this build will be enough for me. We need to meet up sometime once I get my car back.

rfuerst911sc,

I saw a post of yours today and it made me think about you relative to how you are doing and how your engine build is coming along. Any updates that you can share?

Porsche9 thanks for asking. In regards to my health all is going well I will be done with treatments on 12/23. So that is the best Christmas present for this year. Second best present will be getting my Boxster back from Jake. Between me putting Jake on hold for a while and his very busy schedule I'll get the car back in January. He will be completing the engine before Christmas and then putting it in the car early January. Then there's the tuning/breaking in of the engine plus dyno runs that all takes time. But it will be well worth the wait ! Once I get the car back and drive her a little I'll give a full report :D

Porsche9 12-09-2015 07:06 PM

Look forward to it. Merry Christmas!

rfuerst911sc 12-19-2015 03:41 AM

Hello everyone we're almost there !!! Jake sent me pics last night of the completed engine . Right in time for holiday shutdown :p Jake will pick back up the beginning of January the timeline for picking the car up is looking like the 3rd week of January. WOOHOO !!! Oh and my last prostate cancer treatment is scheduled for 12/23 so that will be in the rear view mirror also  . This is a great Christmas present on both fronts .

steved0x 12-19-2015 03:47 AM

Awesome new on both counts!

Porsche9 12-19-2015 08:13 AM

Great to hear! Look forward to hearing about the results.

Good to hear that you and the car are on the road to recovery!

rfuerst911sc 12-20-2015 11:24 AM

I consider all of you my long distance support group :D. But I really do appreciate all the well wishes...........and I am foaming at the mouth to get my car back !! So this is a basic rundown of what I'm waiting on.

3.6 litre Jake Raby magic with all kinds of internal voodoo
Big bore throttle body
Lightened/balanced flywheel
Deep sump oil pan extension
IMS Solution
987 air filter housing modified to fit my 986
Stainless steel headers with no cats and a GHL twin can muffler.....light and aggressive !
OEM GT3 front bumper with Porsche Motorsport spoiler lip
GT3 Tek rear diffuser
Black convertible top with glass rear window
GT3 aftermarket side skirts

In the waiting: Jake Raby custom in house camshafts to be installed in the spring
H&R adjustable shocks/struts looking to lower her by about an inch or so
Aftermarket 18 x 8 + 18 x 10 wheels still deciding on rubber but leaning to Bridgestone 03 Pole Positions

She will be a friggen beast !!! I can't wait to start rowing through the gears !

BruceH 12-20-2015 11:38 AM

You are going to have an incredible Boxster! In the end, your health is the most important thing, good luck and congrats on getting to the end of your treatment! Here's to a great 2016:cheers:
