It would be nice if the boxsters had a retractable hard top. I understand the weight penalty, but it would be quieter and no more worn out tops.

Being that the Boxster/Cayman is Porsche's only true sports car not sure that will happen. Plus the development costs and the low volumes makes it difficult to justify. But then again they did just do a wildly complex Targa top for the Carrera so who knows. A hardtop would broaden the appeal.

This could be done with a manual lever on ball bearing track of some kind, and using light weight composite materials. I'm not sure why everything has to be motorized or require someone to get out of the car and fiddle with each side.
