First accident in 30 years.... you're doing well. This is minor enough too. Get the tag off of the inside of the truck and transfer it to the new one.

Sorry, but I had to chuckle about the hood scratch comment. I am glad to hear that the passenger fender was OK. In the original pictures it was hard to see if it was Ok.

You're seeing things right. The fender has a huge dent in the top, but I originally bought it that way. Along with the long narrow crease across the hood, we guessed that a tree branch had fallen on it at some point.

Ouch... sorry to see that, but glad it turned out to be fairly minor and an easy fix. Funny, I was just checking the fit of the silver hood from my parts car on my '99 tonight getting ready to do some painting.

I am so sorry to hear about your your unfortunate accident. That pic of the V shaped hood was like stabbing me in the heart...actually felt pain when I saw it! This is one situation where duct tape just wouldn't be enough I guess! Two years ago while returning from a Niagara wine tour I took my eyes off the road for just a couple of seconds while I took a sip of ice tea. I heard a horrible bang during that two seconds and thought the front wheel had exploded. With my heart racing I pulled to the side of the road expecting to see a missing calliper or broken rotor but everything looked fine. Upon closer inspection I saw something shiny wedged up inside the front drivers wheel well. It was one of those stainless steel buckets for golf balls that people use when they go to the driving range. There just happened to be a driving range directly across the road from the "crash site". I'll never know if it was put in the middle of the road on purpose or just fell off somebody's vehicle but it threw the alignment out on my "02 Boxster S big time. Like you I learned my lesson from that day and never take my eyes off the road now. ps...I kept the shiny but squished golf ball bucket and now use it for a salt bucket during our long winters up here!

If it makes you feel better, you're not alone. Most of the wrecked boxsters I buy are wrecked in the front. It actually looks like you got somewhat lucky with what little damage there is.

So sorry to see the damage, thankfully money will fix it. Glad to see no one was injured and the damage was relatively minor. Thanks for posting this, I know I'll be thinking about it when driving in traffic.

Now I'm just anxious to get it back. 
Hopefully the new hood they have is nicer than my old one.
The hood was creased and hail damaged before this. (afterwards it was still hail damaged and really creased!)
PS: OKCShooter, you were on the NW Expressway that afternoon? Believe it or not I drove away. I contemplated driving it all the way to the shop in Edmond, but I couldn't bloody see! Pulled into a parking lot and called AAA.

I went to check on it today, but it has been put on the back-burner for a bit while the shop completes the 911 GT2 that was just ahead of it. The owner was picking it up while I was there. Man that's a sharp car all put together!
At least neither of us got it as bad as this person.
