Meet Rocky

Its been a long 2 years but the resurrection of Rocky is complete (almost). Still need to do something about the seats but the rest came together nicely. I drove Rocky down to Hershey this past weekend and it was flawless, 6 hours each way. In fact my wife has decided to try and claim Rocky as hers. I've gotten a lot of great advice here and done a lot of lurking and researching to get this Boxster brought back from dead.

Rocky was flooded in hurricane Sandy and now is back to almost new:

Thanks Bruce! My daughter named it because Boxsters remind her of Boxers and she likes Rocky.

Nice. How much do you have invested in this car now? I've not given a name to my Boxster.

Lets see...
2700.00 for the Boxster
450.00 for computer/immobilizer/key set
Changed all fluids and filters
Used about 12 cans of electrical cleaner
Roughly 200.00 in various parts
300.00 for new tires (take offs at a tuner shop)
So... around 5k so far and probably 200 hours of work.
Still need to do the seats, replace some missing trim items and touch up a few paint chips.

Really nice to see a car resurrected instead of left to the parts vultures! Looks great!

Really nice picture with the white blossoms in the back. :-) Just curious - When you bought it, it came with a flood title? What about the airbag computer/controller? Where does that sit and does it need to be switched out?

Not really. There was evidence of water in both the trunks and the interior compartment. But I couldn't find any evidence of infiltration in the engine or tranny. I still get a faint whiff of algae when driving...

Congrats and great job. There's got to be a good deal on seats out there to finish it up. Post a WTB in the classified section?

I hit Woody up earlier. I may actually try and redo these myself. Why not, I've done everything else so far. Anyone else recover seats? Is there a preferred vendor for the leather kits?

I remember when you started out! Respect! Flood damage is usually a big nono but all here are happy to see the save.

Great!
Later,
Andy

Think I would look for some different seats. There may be mold in those seats.
