It's not even a Porsche: '85 e24

Slow day at work yesterday. Nothing exciting "Porsche" going on in the Salvage car auctions. Next, I spent too much time on Craigslist. ...$1600 1985 BMW 635 CSi runs, drives, no rust, 138k miles (*later found the odometer stopped working at 138k miles), just under 100 miles away.

It's going to be a bit of a TLC project, but if I can get a classic car for under $2000 and drive it 100 miles home in the dark at 75 mph+, I call it a win.
(Thanks for the advice Rick)

The worst of the interior:

I found a rust spot (on my old 525 the rust hole was so big, there was no plug):

Thanks. Sorry for the interruption, but I'm not on the BMW forums yet.

Oh don't worry about it. I was just giving him a little jab.

Good looking ride 78F350.

I had a clean 85 635csi 5spd for several years. Honestly it was a great driving car, but a real money pit. Fastest rusting car I've ever seen. After 3 years of ownership the climate controls were still a mystery to me. The sound of that straight six @ 6000 rpm was pure goosebumps though and it pulled like a freight train. They look fantastic as well. I'd love to own an M6 someday.

Dug these out from my archives:

78F350, please don't be mad at me.

I know you're post in my thread was made with good intentions. Honestly I was just playing with you. I know you're a smart individual and a responsible driver. I don't want you to have any ill feelings towards me.

Sorry brother.

Thanks for posting that. I really wasn't sure what to think, but really don't take forum comments personally. I think better of you now.

Good deal. Man the trend to buy older cars sure has gone up. I know a guy that only deals in selling older model cars, problem is he gets cars that are in excellent shape and asks a premium for them. There are loan companies out there that specialize in financing them too.

I'd rather go the route you're doing. Gives the car more meaning to you when you put your own hard earned sweet in it, turning the car into a thing of beauty.

Thanks for the comments. I already found some BBS wheels to replace the old steel&hubcap that was on it. Planning to paint it more of a charcoal metallic or Seal Grey in May.

She likes the wheels.

Because it's a 30 year-old BMW!

Wheels make a nice difference!

I'd like to pick up a 330i coupe around the 2002 year. My best bud has one. It would definitely be looked at as a project car. I can't tell you all the parts he has had to replace on that car. Makes may Boxster with more miles look like a Champ lol.
