I use an Escort 9500ix and the Escort app on my phone. Completely eliminated any K or KA band tickets. Only effective thing for laser is a set of blinders (jammers) and even then are only effective on certain models of lasers. It is a constant cat & mouse battle between the laser manufacturers and the jammer manufacturers. For passive laser resistance you can use the Veil laser coating on your headlights and shiny surfaces.

For the people that use radar detectors still, how many false alerts are you seeing from all these new cars with the radar assisted cruise control?

All depends on where you live I think, I get false from new merc, bmw ect. Mainly from the blind spot detection. I was in Vancouver the other week And it was going off a lot, but I don't speed in new places too busy trying to figure out how to get somewhere

Only getting false alarms from a few fixed locations with radar gate beams in town.

However if new cars are transmitting in the police radar bands then that pretty much opens the door to Jammers that transmit their own signals just like the radar cruise and blind spot sensors.

Valentine Research just released a software upgrade for the V1 that seems to significantly reduce the alarms from lane departure and cruise control systems.

Excellent.

For those on the fence, the V1 can be hard-wired into the dome light. There's DIY on Renntech I think. No need to mess the cigarette lighter. Also with the tiny remote display box, placed under the speedo, you can avoid all the blinking in cabin that attract tail-gaters or smokeys.

p.s.
As for the "need" for a radar detector, I've been pulled over more times in the Boxster than all previous cars combined. Ironic in that I drive within 10 miles of the speed limit for the most part. These cars have a knack of attracting their own small town police escorts. I avoid local roads in small towns like the plague. Big city cops could care less what you're driving or how fast. State troopers different story.

Might be something to do with it being red, that stands out long before they can identify it as a Porsche.

What are your favorite models and why?
I've used a Rocky Mountain Radar for 15 years. Currently have the RMR 435 in my work truck . I put about 65k miles a year on my company vehicles and with the RMRs I haven't had a speeding ticket since 1999. In the Porsche I have an older unit, but no tix in that car either. RMRs cover the spectrum of radars plus have a " scrambler" that supposedly screws up the guns ability to get an accurate read. I won't pretend I get the technology they apply, but personally I can vouch for the results.

I've been under the impression since police radars went to laser, radar detectors are worthless?

Anyways, about the heads up display. I'm getting this as I dislike how Porsche put the digi speedo on my car to the far left gauge and at the bottom of it. I like to keep my eyes on the road.
