She made it home
The 2000 Boxster I bought in Florida was shipped by truck to Calais, Maine, dropped off last night, and I went down from Nova Scotia to pick her up and bring her home today. I left home at 7:30 am this morning, and just sat down at home at 9 pm, after 8 hours of driving and about750 kms. But she's here and tucked away until spring. The battery tender gets connected tomorrow.

Sweet! Looks awesome! You're going to love it. Now you have to move south for an earlier spring!

That's like bringing a supermodel home and ... well, you get the idea.
Congratulations and let us know what you think when you get it on the road!

For real!
I put winter tires on my Box this year. I couldn't let her sit that long, plus it's my daily driver right now.
It's barely snowed at all here yet. We got about an inch or less one night after I got the tires on. I went out at like 10:30pm to see how well they worked. They did really good, stopped great, took sudden jerks great, just had to be easy on the throttle or the rears would break lose.
Congrats!

Thanks folks! Nope, it's Canadian winter here, and although no snow at the moment, it's -7C this morning and I live on a dirt road, and a snowstorm is predicted. This one won't come out until April . I had a good test drive in Florida when I bought her and can;t wait for spring this year, more than other years.

She's a beauty!! Do tell us your love story. How did you meet/find her? How many others did you see before you decided to bring her home?

Nice!
You got a 750 km "perma-grin" preview.
Like most of us in Canada, it's a long hibernation season to put up with, but spring is soon upon us!

Glad you got her home safe and sound. I definitely agree our Canadian Winters are no place for a beauty like that. So keep her safe and warm and roll her out when the sun shines in April-ish.

LOL. I started my search on Craigslist when I was still in Canada, and test drove a couple from there, in the Sarasota-Venice-Fort Myers areas. One I test drove was a Tip, which cemented in my mind that I wanted an M/T. Looked at a dark blue one with tan interior at a used car lot, just 49,000 miles, but no owner or service history at all. I even had arranged for a PPI at a local specialist shop, but then I saw this one pop up on Auto Trader. I had saved a search on both Cars.com and on AutoTrader.com. This car was owned by two prior owners. The first owner was 91 years old when he bought it, and he died a year later. Then the second owner bought it from the estate, until now. He was/is a Univ. professor at 3 different universities and babied it service-wise, oil changes every 6K, etc etc etc. He had every service file ever, the window sticker from when it was new on the lot, the sales brochures, colour charts, all of it. A test drive cemented it for me.

Thanks Steve, it was interesting watching it follow me home on the trailer.

Yeah, thanks Brad, I'll have to watch myself. Small towns mean everyone knows you, especially the constabulary, when you have a car that looks like this one.

Yup, thanks. Got the CTEK battery tender connected today. I ordered it off Amazon so it would be here when I got home from Florida.

Thanks much! And it's in awesome shape for a 15 year old car, the Florida climate and roads are so much kinder to cars than ours.

Thanks. Waiting...waiting...waiting. I already have trips planned around the Cabot Trail and over to PEI.

Congrats! Feels good when you find the right one. Will likely make a road trip to NS this summer in our Boxster. We have friends in Lunenburg that we visit most years.

That would be cruel and unusual punishment in this area!

Thanks Chris. It showed up down there just in time to make all the export and transportation arrangements that allowed me to get home before it did. The timing worked out perfect. That trip down the St. Lawrence and down into NS will make a great summer trip. But try to get up around the Cabot Trail too, especially if you never have done it.

Yep, thanks, got real lucky with weather. No rain or snow on the trip up from Florida for me, or the car on the truck, which followed me by three days. And then no rain or snow for the pickup by me at Calais, to bring it the last leg home. Sure glad I got it here before this storm that's supposed to hit tomorrow and the next day!
