How much should I expect to pay for a rebuilt tranny and installation?
The Collection quoted me around 15k for the whole thing, the service advisor said just the tranny would run me 8k.
I have an 02 Boxster. I would appreciate your input.
You didn't mention the mileage on your car but if it's high ( 75 000) I'd go with a low mile 'recycler'. Rebuild if you're going to own it for a long time. Isn't there a big, Porsche specific recycler in Georgia? Have them ship down a low mile peach for you.

My Boxster has 91k miles on it. And if I could, i'd love to keep it for a long time, I'm definitely emotionally invested in this car.

Not Georgia- NC they're called DC dismantlers and claim to be the largest Porsche- specific dismantler in the USA.

Miami is like New York, to high in prices, basically they are crooks. Used, good mileage TIP goes for around $1500. Cost to get an Indy to replace it, about $750. If I had to speed $15k, I would seriously trade it in.

If a 3 hour drive isn't too far, there's a couple of very good independent shops in the Orlando area. Give Zotz or Stashu's a call. Google them

Still very low miles. You gotta cut your loss somewhere, either getting another tranny or sell it.
