Entry and Drive in new Boxster?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here either has or is currently ordering a new 981 and have the Entry and Drive option on their car. I was playing with the configurator on the Porsche website and if you select the "Premium Package Plus" option, one of the things it comes with is the entry and drive. However, I can't seem to find this as a stand alone option so I was wondering if this is a mistake or if the newest 981 models will have this as an option. Everything in the packages can be selected individually but this one important option I just can't find... Thanks for any info!

Nobody here wants to discuss or help you pick out a new Boxster.

Isn't there a 981 forum for a question like this?

Wow your responses are really mean!!!
You go and check off all options available for your new 981, make sure its the 'S' or don't bother. Oh and get the 24" wheels

All of us with our 986's

Just teasing. (Green envy everywhere)
I could never venture near a dealer and test drive a new 981. I might spend the Rent, kid's college tuition, food money, on a down payment.
I would just drive the 'S...' out of it until my divorce takes it away

Couldn't one buy a really nice used 911 for what a new 981 costs. Just saying!!

Man enjoy the process

I thought my reply was to the point, but edited it to clarify.

hang there's a at least one recent 981 buyer. He'll surface sooner or later.

but I agree with kk2002s, the 981 S is a game-changer in the roadsters segment on power.
That Boxster is more capable than 90+% of all the Porsches ever made. Although the same was true of the 986S back in 2000.

"Entry and Drive" is a keyless function. Touch the door handle to lock/unlock when the remote is in your pocket.

Per Porsche
Quote:
With the optional Porsche Entry & Drive, you can leave your car key in your pocket. As soon as you grab the door handle or approach the luggage compartment, the system automatically checks the encrypted access code on the key. Once the key is validated, the door or the luggage compartment lid unlocks. The engine can then be started and switched off using the electronic ignition switch.

To lock the vehicle, you simply press the button on the outside of the door handle. Porsche Entry & Drive then locks the vehicle and activates the engine immobilizer and steering column lock.

In other words it is one of those many luxury options that weighs the car down and should be omitted to make it go faster.

keeps you from getting locked out of your car though. Has that idiot-proof feature.

This option is a definite a to each their own
Clicking the key fob is that hard?
I'll bet Porsche charges $2000+ for this option...Or maybe they charge $2000+ to exclude this option

But I definitely don't think this is "...one important option ..."

OK old guy ranting here

we are showing our 986 age. This option's been around on Porsche for almost 10 years.

LOL. I've been using the key to get in since Bush was President. I like it.

soon we'll have to close the doors tightly, by ourselves...er a , ... why I remember I used to have to park on a hill ...

At first we think luxury is over done than we become a slave to it. Where will it all end?

I'm in the process of ordering a 981 and I will have that package. From having it on the wife Audi, we really like it. From what I understand, so far it's only available in the package.

Later

We have this on a couple of cars and I really, really like it. Obviously I am in the minority here. Just buy whatever makes you happy, as you are the one that will have to live with your choice.
