SAI issues have been commonly dealt with on a DIY basis, not THAT big of a deal:

DIY - Changing the SAI Check Valve - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Sai passages blasted out pretty easy - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Another regularly used method is to use bicycle brake cable and fish it up into the passages while using a drill to break through the carbon build up. Quotes I've heard to have a shop deal with it are $750 to $1500.

I know I shouldn't say this out load, but none of the guys I know with 993's have ever had to deal with SAI problems, damn I KNOW I'm gonna regret that.

I know I've posted this before, but two videos worth watching and following the advice:

Good to know, two of my buddies had the SAI problem and both had to pay big dollar to get it fixed
