Porschechick, I too love the Patrick Stewart 'Love Story' video that was released on the introduction of the 986 Boxster. Yes, it speaks to the joys of driving an open-air sports car - but it also speaks to the design's roots in the famous Porsche Spyders and Speedsters of the 1950's. As I pointed out in the 'Thinking of Buying a Boxster' thread (Have the prices for 986 Boxsters bottomed out?), it is of note that Porsche did not produce a similar video for the introduction of either the 987, or 981 Boxsters. I suspect that this is because, while both designs are more modern in appearance, neither has the same historical cues and neither instills the same feelings of nostalgia.
Does the video now seem 'corny' to some? No doubt. However, those of us who are old enough to remember the introduction of Boxster in 1996 (let alone old enough to remember the Porsche Spyders and Speedsters) will remember how it tugged at the heart-strings.

I'll have to be the dissenting voice...
I don't like those commercials. They seem like all the others where they end with the voice over person saying the name of the car in some overly dramatic way.
If I had my my own car company the commercials would have no one payed millions of dollars to talk. In fact there would be no talking at all.
I would play one soundtrack: The sound of the engine wailing.
And the only images would be from carefully placed cameras on a race track like Spa, Sebring or Monaco. Then at the end I would have six of the cars lined up in the most popular color/wheel combinations. And I'd keep Patrick Stewart's check for myself..

There are a few versions of 'Love Story' - if I recall one of them is almost 10 minutes long. Would love to see the original in HD or at least higher quality.
My latest favorite is 'Anticipation' - it's for the 981 but has plenty of other history. And it looks and sounds great in HD.

This commercial was partly responsible for the purchase of a SmartTOP for my 986.

It may not be a commercial, but it's by far the funniest clip involving a Porsche.

Flat-out
I agree that Le Mans is one big Porsche valentine. As a sixteen-year-old, the movie made a tremendous impression on me:
"Michael, I want you to drive flat-out. I want Porsche to win Le Mans."
I'll never forget those lines. I dreamt of owning a Porsche, and 39 years later, I realized my dream.

I really liked the theme of this commercial, I could relate to it.
I also love the old Spyders, and if the new one had a reasonable top (it snaps on and off, which seems tedious to me) I would wait for a used one to come up. The fairings are just gorgeous! But I guess you wouldn't be able to have fairings with a regular automatic top. Life is full of stinkin' tradeoffs. . .

Nice to know you realized your dream.
For me, the first four minutes were pure romantic euphoria.
A year later, I was in Europe racing Formula Fords. The Best of Times.

I know this is not a Porsche commercial, but I stumbled upon this and cannot keep it to myself. It is a real thing for those of you that would be motivated to buy one.
