As I pointed out in the 'Thinking of Buying a Boxster' thread (Have the prices for 986 Boxsters bottomed out?), it is of note that Porsche did not produce a similar video for the introduction of either the 987, or 981 Boxsters. I suspect that this is because, while both designs are more modern in appearance, neither has the same historical cues and neither instills the same feelings of nostalgia.

Does the video now seem 'corny' to some? No doubt. However, those of us who are old enough to remember the introduction of Boxster in 1996 (let alone old enough to remember the Porsche Spyders and Speedsters) will remember how it tugged at the heart-strings.

I really liked the theme of this commercial, I could relate to it.

I also love the old Spyders, and if the new one had a reasonable top (it snaps on and off, which seems tedious to me) I would wait for a used one to come up. The fairings are just gorgeous! But I guess you wouldn't be able to have fairings with a regular automatic top. Life is full of stinkin' tradeoffs. . .
