Hi. My name is Miller. I'm a Porscheholic...

Transplanting from Pelican and past owner of many 944's and a few 928's. This time around i'm looking at Boxsters. On issue is my size. I have read that as the Boxsters get newer, the roomier they get.

I finally found a local Boxster (2000) and am headed down this morning to try it on. Only issue is... It's Navy Blue. Not what I'm looking for as a color. I have been Porscheless for about 13 months and it's driving me crazy as I drive around in my piece of mustang. Any buying tips? The car I'm looking at today is on a used car dealership at $9999.

Hi Miller. Just say the serenity prayer repeatedly and you will find the car you want. By the way, the price is pretty good for an asking price. I bought my 2000 about a year and half ago for $7500, so there is definitely room to bargain.

Hi welcome to the forum. If it was me I would find somebody that knows Boxsters and have him go with you. Before u buy have a PPI done. I am not a great fan of buying from a used car dealership(except Porsche) as I prefer dealing with a private person because I would be able to get past history re. maintenance, accidents if any. Ask for previous owner service receipts if available.

When u put the key in the ignition, turn key on to get all warning lites illuminated before starting engine. Make sure all the lites light up especially the CEL one. If the bulb has been removed it won't light up. I have a black Boxster and like navy blue it will show dirt readily.

Obviously u have much experience with Porsches but check general condition. Tires, color of oil, color of coolant etc. Mike Focke has extensive info on buying a Boxster. Check the Pelican forum has for his info. I would not buy the first one u see. Read as much as u can on these websites about the Boxster. Try different Boxsters. I have a 2001 Boxster base but I never tried an S. The base has enough power for me.

If you have a PPI done(the best investment of about $200 you will every make), and find that repairs need to be made then this can be a bargaining tool to be deducted from sales price.
You don't say how many miles on it. Anyways others will chime in, good luck and stay calm!
Perhaps have a body shop check to see if it has had an accident. Let us know what u decide on!

I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs. I had to stick with a pre-2005 model. In the later ones, the center console is non removable and interfered with my right leg. On the older ones, there is a console delete kit that makes the car much more comfortable. YMMV:

Mr. Miller,
Don't forget to check that the Box u decide on has a second key with it and that it works as well. You may notice that some members on this forum are more helpful than others.

All great points. And don't worry about the color. Any color looks good on a Boxster as log as you keep it clean, polished and waxed.

Where do you put your legs? I am 5'10 and could use more legroom!

You want buying tips, try this site. Some P-car nut put far too much fact and opinions on line in about a dozen buying a Boxster articles.

The interior size break points for Boxsters are 1997-2004, 2005-2012, 2013- or 986, 987, 981

The Boxster is a very roomy car if you ask me. I've sat in an S2000, Miata, Elise, a F430 and they are all smaller than the Boxster.

That's the thing about Porsches, once you've owned one, it's only a matter of time before you have to have another. I don't think you can say that about a lot of car brands.

Washing. Correct. Lapis Blue. What is the preference here? 5 or 6 Speed? This one is a 6.

My second choice of colors. I believe it's high on the ladies list too? 986 S has 6-speed, base Box is 5-speed. Are you a DJ? My wife & I used to be in the biz.

Loved Mark & Brian. Grew up with them. Really great guys. They kinda got me into radio. Unfortunately, they are no more.
