What should I pay?

Hey guys,

Looking at a 2003 Boxster S with 38,000 miles.
Engine was replaced under warranty at 12,000 miles.
Grey on grey. Michelin P2 Pilot Sport tires with about 1000 miles on them.
Excellent condition exterior and interior. Top could probably be replaced as it looks a little faded. Some curb rash on 2 wheels, but not bad.

Having PPI done tomorrow, so if that checks out, what would you pay for this?
It is listed for $20,000.
Blue book is $22,600 for Very Good condition.

Thanks!

No comment on what to pay but Porsche wheels can bend very easily, make sure to check the road rash wheels. When I bought my 986 two wheels were bent and it took me a while to figure that out.

Good grief, I thought I was the only one! When I got my tires fitted they were not balanced right, but I still drove around with them for a day. I hit a pot hole no more than 2 inches deep, yes no more than two, but it slightly bent my wheel as the technician noted when he took my wheel off later that day. Because of that, I put +4 psi per tire extra in the front in hopes that will help mitigate any future damage.

Blue Book Very Good Condition = $22,600
-$500 for actual Good Condition
-$1,200 for new top
-400 for wheel rash
= $20,500 (subtract off anything else that the PPI shows needs work)

Asking $20K. I'd offer $18,000 to start and split it down the middle ($19K) to get the deal done. If they are stuck on $20K and you really want the car, $20K is not "overpaying" but you should be able to get the car for less than Blue Book in this market.
