The license plate holder is held on by 2 screws. The license plate attaches to this holder. I put holes in the cover and it is sandwiched in between. Then the license plate screws go through both, with double sided tape around the edges.

Thanks Kboggs. It's added to my shopping list. Sadly I'll be taking it off the road here pretty quick. Sigh.

I have also broken blue headlight plug. For the repair, I ordered a new plug from local Porsce delaer at the cost of 14€ (999-650-150-40 "Porsche Connector Housing for Headlight Harness).
Ths is the blue plug WITHOUT any cables or metal pins.
Since my cables and meteal pins are fine, I will take the pins/wires out from old blue plug housing and push them in to new plug housing one by one with a cheap thin metal tool made to remove the pins from plug housings (non Porsche tool - ebay has bunch of these, etc). No soldering nor cutting cables

I like the idea of being able to plug the cable in with the headlight out. So an extension makes sense.

Swapped the short shifter in. Original shifter had already 'some play' in it, so brand new shortshifter feels rock solid

I pulled the insurance off today. Sad. But got a list of work and fixes to get done this fall/winter that I can get started on.

Pilot4fn, I've got a Ben's SSK that is on the list to install this winter. It looks like yours in a Ben's unit as well?

Thanks forum members for all the support so far!

Actually, I do not know if mine is Ben's...
I bought this from a local Porsche club member who had never installed it to his 996, but sold the car forward so the SSK was left over.

Got some "fresh" wheels today. Does anybody know the name(what Porsche calls them) or part # of my new wheels. They are slightly used. They are Porsche wheels. 18"diameter (F+R) - 7.5" and 9" wide.
Old wheels (first pic)- New second pic.

They appear to be Sport Classics, but I am no authority on this. I think they are the two piece wheels made for Porsche by BBS.

BBS Sport Design. 2 piece, italian, custom run for Porsche, never stocked by BBS. A $5600 option when our cars were new. The bolts are titanium. They can be disassembled but not rec'd due to potential to ruin. Arguably the best looking factory wheel, unfortunately not the lightest. And definitely not the easiest to clean. But pretty.

What do you mean they cannot be "rec'd". I have a set of these that I was going to sand and paint (not powdercoat). Maybe gloss black.

Thanks.

Just a quick question to WillW, regarding disassembly. I have a set that i plan to refurbish, sand, prime and repaint. How were you able to loosen all the titanium bolts that, from what i understood were locktite'd from factory without breaking one? I guess you were pretty careful and lucky at the same.
Good Luck on the project, and yes they are BBS made in Germany.

I have not done any disassembly yet. I don't know what I am going to do, yet. I don't want to take them apart. I am trying to figure out a way to cover the bolts to keep them from getting painted.
