There is a thread somewhere that discussed this. Indications are that the OEM is somewhat 'softer' glass than some after market. I had mine replaced 2 years ago under insurance and the installer went with Pilkington. So far the windshield is holding up well even with the horrible rock strewn roads I drive on here in Manitoba. My old windshield was 'sand blasted' with all kinds of pits and chips but then again it was 13 years old.
