914 , that looks really nice!
|
Bought new tires just before Christmas so I went and had an alignment done. Seems like they did a pretty good job.

914racer, Do you have anymore pics of your car? I really like everything you've done to your interior. I was going to paint all my interior trim like yours but got lazy. That's a lot of work! |
More impressed w/ your speedster covers (details?)
Nonetheless, great job on all :) |

Tom, the top looks great also  |

Thanks, I made the tonneau myself out of fiberglass. You can see more pics under "show and tell" "My prototype inspired Boxster. Or in the Oct. issue of Panorama there is a full article about the car. " A Boxster His Way".

I've always said that the Boxster would be perfect if it had the prototype bumper cover and Speedline wheels. Your new fiberglass piece is great, and also mirrors that of the prototype. I understand, though, that the new bumper cover creates some cooling issues. Is that correct? Just wonderin'.......... Quote:

Very therapeutic day.
Cars & Coffee, a walk on the beach. then back home to change oil and filter - 9 + quarts of lovely clean DT40, then replaced the brake fluid. Followed by a drive up through the local mountains for a cleansing ale! http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/car11484549713.jpg |
Haha yes she is, a little less so after the "frugal" comment in the article.
The bumper creates no cooling problem, the problem at the swap meet was from me overfilling the reservoir. Since then I've driven 7 hours to Vermont in 80-90 degrees with the A/C on, no problems. Thanks for your interest. |

Is that the Troy-Built 2620? I have the same one

Ordered a Continental TR7412UB-OR for my '97. Has anyone installed one yet in a 986? Over on Rennlist a few 993/964 guys have installed it. Love the retro looks and the colour looks like it will be a decent match...

Dulmer,
That is a nice looking unit for older cars. Certainly better then period or current aftermarket units? |
That's what I thought too. I'll take some pics after I install it, but that likely won't be until April. Have to wait out winter here in the Great White North...:(

I like the older styling to keep true to the time period. I like that it has blue tooth and isn't tacky with chrome and blue LEDs everywhere. I'll have to look that unit up. Didn't know Continental made head units. Off hand, do you know if there's a microphone jack in the back, or just the small one in the unit face? |

I ordered it from Germany, off of eBay. It actually has both - there's a mic on the front, but it also comes with one that connects at the back of the unit. I'm going to use this one and run the mic cable over to the location on the instrument cluster where the factory mic would be located. More information on their audio lineup here: Continental Automotive -Radios |

I was going to try and keep the CDR-210, but I wanted a USB, so this seemed like the next best thing.
There are two ways of using the mic. There's the one on the front of the unit, and the other option is to use the mic which connects to the back of the unit, with a long bit of cable. I'm going to go this route, and run it over to the location on the instrument panel where the factory mic would have been. Here's a pic of it in a 993. Looks pretty good... http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1484829348.jpg |
Tommy583: Gets the job done, doesn't it!

I changed my hood and airbag crests again, this time to black and silver. I have Porsche ADD. :(
I wanted them to match my wheel center caps so that I'd have a completely matching monochrome set. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...F4450583E1.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...A049ACBAF0.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...58E397D0C5.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...F3E52A159A.jpg Don't judge me. :o |
I see some red on the gauge needles. :D

I saw my 03 S today for the first time in almost 2 weeks. Bodywork is completed from my little fender bender 3 weeks ago, and it looks great! Now it will have the ROW M030 sport suspension installed. Hopefully I will have it back on Tuesday!

Just let me know what I can do to help. :) |
It was warm this weekend so I cleaned up a little around the Boxster in the garage.
Saw a mouse just outside the garage last week, so there are 6 traps out. So far no captures. |
I just recovered my ultra-low, long-reach 2 ton jack that was stolen 3 weeks ago.
Hats off to the Cobb County Police Department and Detective Neal for tracking it down! No word on my indoor car cover that was also stolen, but after getting the outdoor cover I'm really not too concerned about that. |
Heat wrapped and installed secondary test pipes. Headers and stock muffler with Crios mod now has deeper idle but still has a lisp as the rpms fall past 1800-2000rpm. That twin in/out magnaflow might be coming sooner than I thought...
