Yes, I'm running 17s. I think the price is fantastic. A buddy of mine was quoted $500 for ONE 18" rear tire for his 997, more than the total cost of my complete set.

Next drive is a combination Sunday Drive/Rally on December 7th. Check the PCA Maverick calendar for details on all the drives.

That I did. Along with some dryer sheets. The car is on 6 mil plastic as a vapor barrier, and there is a cover on the car itself. It should emerge in April as a beautiful butterfly.

Discovered that Discount Tire is offering a $100.00 rebate on these tires for today, Black Friday, only. So I brought my receipt down to the shop and they gave me $100.00 cash back on the spot! No questions asked.

So my total out of pocket cost for the full set ends up at $377.83.

Surprised at how many completely winterize their car. Don't you drive it occasionally on those nice winter days??

Added Speakers

I installed one pair of rear $35 speakers from Crutchfield in the zippered storage thing makes just the right amount of sounds for me.

I gave it a playmate.

Mine is covered in the garage over a plastic vapor barrier. Dessicant packs inside, exterior surrounded by mothballs and rodent repellants. Battery tender plugged into cigarette lighter receptacle. But dryer sheets? That's new for me. What purpose do they serve?

P.S. Winter drags on way too long as it is, but when your Boxster's in storage, it seems interminable.

1) In Wisconsin there aren't many "nice" Winter days.
2) Even when the days are nice, the roads are still loaded with salt. Worse than rain, snow, dirt or sun, salt is the ultimate enemy of your car.
3) Even if I wanted to drive a dozen days in the Winter, it isn't worth the cost to maintain full insurance coverage vs. comprehensive only.

Replaced the front cross member to address a broken diagonal brace mounting ear. Looks like the result of a past front collision prior to my ownership. Was a relatively easy swap by unbolting the lower control arms at the ball joints, unbolting the swaybar droplinks, removing the two rack bolts and supporting the fuel tank. A short 15 miles on some twistys seem to indicate no alignment necessary after getting it all back together. Going to take a much longer run tomorrow since it's supposed to be +70F followed by +30F and ice on Monday.
