[QUOTE=grc0456;509961]Ditto. Love the look of those wheels, Doc :[/QOUTE]

Brake dust is my mortal enemy and I hate it, but I have never been a fan of black wheels. To each, his own.

No external cosmetic mods planned other than perhaps replacing the BOXSTER S emblem on rear trunk lid.

No emblem cuts rear waxing/detailing time by at least half; but, the paint has slightly faded around the BOXSTER S emblem such that the letters now appear as slightly darker paint beneath the clear coat.

Without the Boxster emblem, I believe one may better view and appreciate the artistic lines of the well-formed rear curvatures I could have the trunk lid repainted but fear an imperfect paint match would be even less acceptable; thus the need for a new emblem.

Thanks again! BruceH!

I replaced the coolant expansion tank on my '00 S. I used an OEM tank from Pelican and Porsche antifreeze. Big thanks to everyone's previous post on this subject; your tech tips were very helpful!! Overall about 4-5 hours and wow those clamps are difficult to reach. I completed the job by accessing the lines from the top.
While the Boxster was down for maintenance I got to drive my Z:

I drove down a twisty country road with trees along each side that touch forming a canopy. Something magical about driving down a shaded road in a cool breeze, the ride was amazing. :)

Drained the oil, inspected the filter and magnetic plug... all looks good. Filled it back up, and drove it hard.
Sending sample out for analysis today.

Washed it and detailed it after returning from the sickening beauty of Lake Tahoe. (Sorry to the poor bastardos that have never been to Lake Tahoe).

I shredded some bald and cracked 996 (Original 1999 date code) tires on the skidpad at local track..

Took mine on a 250 mile trip through Colorado Canyon Country to break in my new Continental DWS06's. SCWEET!

Went for an evening drive and passed a major milestone.

Took a nice little 200 mile drive last night. On the way home on a major hwy just cruising at 70 mph in the slow lane, I started to see blood streaks on the road. Then small bits of deer. I started thinking this is a fairly fresh hit and I hope there isn't a carcass directly ahead. Then all of a sudden there was a sizable part, couldn't avoid. I squeezed my butt checks and hope I don't hear major damage. Hear it bang under the car but no major noise.
I keep driving, everything runs fine. When I get home I look under the car, mainly hoping the 2 flaps under the car are still there. Well it is messy under there and tonight I have some cleaning to do but no apparent damage

MASS Sensor

Took in the Boxster to dealership to find out why I was getting smell of gas in garage; no warning lights, passed inspection in May 2016, and no leaks. Dealer found MASS sensor was sending too much fuel to engine and surging idle. Cost to replace MASS Sensor $800.00. They did check tires, brakes, topped off liquids (windshield wiper fluid). I should've replaced MASS sensor myself for $200.00 at Amazon, but I'm getting ready to travel and waited too long for a DIY

Replaced my 8 year old Continental Sport Contact 2 tires with a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06, what a difference new tires make!! Now I'm ready for the Peachstate PCA Tail of the Dragon tour on 10/5.

This was from Wed, not today, but I hit a decent milestone. I was on the way to range when this popped up. After this I got to do a bit rally driving with the box before doing some shooting.

Just put a set on my 03 S and took it on a 250 mile trip to break them in. Awesome!

Conti EC DWS 06 on my 03 Base as well about 10k miles ago. No problems to report. Good all around street tire for the Northeast.

Just acquired 2003 Boxster with 25K mi. Mint ci

Woke to a glorious sunny day - first real opportunity to take her out on a test run. Brought it to "Matthew" speed on the 95 and as expected very stable and solid ride. When you bank into the cloverleaf it does truly feel like it's on rails. Perfect balance and amazing transition in turns. WOW!
It's not about the raw power off the line (like the Charger 392), but the finesse and ability to provide an awe inspiring level of confidence through telepathically conveyed information of the road beneath, and the surroundings with top down. It tells you what you can do precisely with confidence.
A DREAM TOP DOWN DRIVE.

Sounds great, Wizard. You describe the Boxster experience perfectly. Do you have any pics to share?

Picked up my first Boxster on Friday...it was a Craigslist find, but the seller wound up being a PCA instructor who had aspirations of turning the car into a Spec Boxster racer, just like me. 1999, 81k, hardtop and a few other goodies. Excited to join the fold here!

PGas32,

Nice that it came with the hardtop. If you do need/want it there are plenty of folks looking for one.

Finally installed a iPhone connection for my CDR-210 head unit (iSimple IS7705). That following new dash speakers (Focal Access 100 CA1). The difference is sound quality is night and day. Also, switched out the cigar lighter out for a dual USB charger, although the phone connection acts as a charger as well.

I removed my soft top from the frame. Rear window stitching failed. Bought a new top, now waiting to find a few replacement parts (foam pieces) before I go the other direction w/the new top.

While it may cause some to have palpitations, I fitted a Cloak Dock from Alien Gear:

Is this some sort of cloaking device? Because I could really use a mod like that!

Prepped the Boxster for her hibernation. Washed her, changed oil and filter, added fuel stabilizer & topped it up, checked the coolant (good to -45C), added wiper fluid (-45C), pumped tires to 60 psi, hooked up battery maintainer, covered her up. :ah:

I did it earlier than normal this year because i will be away for a chunk of October and figured I wouldn't be driving it anyway so i saved on some insurance.

Looking forward to spring:)

New Michelin Pilot Super Sports on all four corners last Friday. After visiting the local Cars and Coffee on Saturday morning I took the long way home. One corner in particular brought back both the permagrin and goose bumps at the same time. To be honest I had never had the courage to push quite as far before with the older tires but the car cornered like it was on rails. I suppose tires are a little like the clutch or the brakes in that the change is gradual over time and you don't really notice the difference until you renew them.

"Tinted" the top half of the tail light last weekend. A p.o. had installed the ones with the completely white turn signal part, and although they were cool, I thought the smoked look is better.

So I purchased some smoked contact paper from the local auto parts dealer, and went to town with a scalpel.

And yes, my oil filler tube is leaking... or the car is marking its Territory.

Washed and waxed using Zymol creame for the first time. I am very happy with the outcome. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1476064792.jpg

Yesterday I rebuilt the starter, spliced wires for the knock sensor, and replaced an O2 sensor in the Beater-Boxster. Today I met up with my gang and terrorized small rural villages.

Reset the CEL for P0133... hoping it doesn't come back. I changed both primary O2s last year.

lol I had no idea what anyone was talking about until I looked at the picture on another pc. It's fine on my iPad. Weird.
