New DIY: Replaced my brake lines with stainless steel. While I had the calipers off to paint them I went ahead and did this upgrade, but split the DIY into two videos.

I finished taking everything apart last night. Only things holding the carriers are the driveshafts and parking brake cables. The carriers propped up with buckets.
Becasue I'm upgrading to Boxster S shocks and springs, I need to upgrade to the compensation ring from 3.5mm to 6mm. Parts are on there way from Germany. So I'm stuck for a week.........should have ordered these before I started! Any other suggestions on what I should tackle while it's all apart? |
Took it out for its first official PNW drive. Didn’t go very far as I’m still working on a brake issue, but it was nice, anyway. :)

It was a good day today. First time changing the oil and added some ceratec on my 00 box at my friend's garage Found out I have a cold air intake for hot air [emoji2959][emoji849] from previous owner. Took a ride in the hot rod. #garagegoalshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7593b6ea09.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...65405485ce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...350531e5db.jpg

Got my rear suspension refresh all bolted back together. Brakes, tires and then alignment. But while it's all jacked up I'll change the oil.
Fun little project. I'll get around to my front suspension soon enough. |

The focus of the Stage 1+ engine is mid range torque more than hp. In any event, FSI says there is no problem with the stock 6 spd handling even their Stage 2 or race engines if the drivetrain is in good shape going in. |

Changed oil, oil filter, and topped off with Tier One fuel, stabilizer, storage insurance. Need to air up tires, put on battery tender, loosen top, and cover.
|
Replaced top and bottom idler pulleys and belt tensioner, and picked up two sets of lobster claws.
Next up: AOS. Parts ordered and awaiting next weekend's garage time. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6357f69520.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3cde6a7d05.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ll probably end up going the double din route eventually, but I really like this smaller screen and want to try this out. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1536561850.jpg |
Went to our first PCA concour d' elegance event today. Great day got 2nd in box/Cayman division and then went to get some good pics of the car.
Also my daughter got to get in a GT3 RS...wow https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1e8491455a.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...deae70e216.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ecdea7bc4.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0bdc31bdcd.jpg Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk |
Took it out for an early morning drive. Found this old covered bridge built in 1897. The lattice wood construction with wood pegs holding most of it together was pretty impressive. Although, I'm not sure I'd want to drive anything larger than a Boxster over it.

Two weeks ago I had a 3 day HPDE at VIR, about a 540 mile drive from home. Of course, a week before the drive I saw that the inner projector lens came unglued from the shroud in the driver side
of my Nine8Six lights. UGH, I didn't want to drive all that way, on the track and back home again with that lens rattling around inside. So I found some very used headlights on Craigslist - 2 halogen with orange turn signals and two litronics, the passenger side with a cracked lens and the driver side with some wiring issues. The Halogen driver side was useable although very cloudy and the inner lens very burned, but I put some bulbs in it and put it in my car and it worked. Back home from VIR last weekend I started working on my headlght in need of repair. This weekend I got it all back together and everything still works! That really pleased me as there was some soldering involved which is not something I excel at. Tomorrow I should be able to install the outer lens with new Permatex silicone. After a day of curing I will install it and do the final aiming. Over the winter I am going to make 1 set of spare headlights using the 2 amber units and the reflector bowls from the litronics, which I think I will be able to convert to bi-xenon projectors with some Morimoto minis. Picture of me at VIR in the Climbing Esses with mis-matched headlights- http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1574037331.jpg Pictures of my handiwork (If these pictures are still upside down I tried 3 times to fix it)- |

I exited the Porsche world.
I traded my boxster for something I can use everyday. It was some what depressing. But I'm thinking when the dust settles in a couple years a 996 or 997 may be next. |
I’m supposed to be fixing my braking issue (new pads and new/used MC are on the bench), but have been screwing around with this instead :D

Funny thing is I traded my 3 year old Nissan Xterra for my Boxster because I wanted a car, then I trade my Boxster in for a Nissan PU |

removed the yellow filters from the LCD displays and drew around them on a white ice cream tub, cut them out and installed them. Perfect result :-)

That's right, you BASTARD!!! I WON!!!
I spent most of the weekend fighting Satan's ball joint. With a lot of hitting, spitting, cursing and violence it finally came out. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/JO...r=w640-h480-no |
