I saw one of these being used on an automotive show a couple of weeks back. They are the two head aluminum cased units and the results shown were pretty impressive. I looked them up online and they're pricey, has anyone around here used one of these? What do you think? Are they worth the money or is there a better alternative? Thanks.....Mark.

Search on "Porter Cable" and you will find several threads describing its use. You can also find videos on YouTube.

I have not used the cyclo polisher you show, so I cannot comment about it. The Porter Cable does a good job for me. I can wax my Boxster in about two hours with it. It is a well made tool that is not tiring to use.

The cyclo polisher may be fine, but it is a lot more expensive.

Yeah. I use a Porter Cable 7424 also. It rocks. It's virtually impossible to burn your paint using that.

Check out the packages this guy has, sometimes his sales are incredible. I just picked up a porter cable I've yet to try, can't wait.. If you look on the right side of this link you will see a Sonus kit that I believe is the best package deal I've ever seen, that's one of the reasons I snagged it. $195.00 and you have everything you need, I've used Sonus products, they are from Germany, I find them to be excellent.

Thanks again guys. Porter Cable it is then, the price is a bit more palatable also. I had been using a Wen unit that my father bought / used in the 70's, it was built like a tank and nearly weighed as much, it finally gave up the ghost a couple a years ago. I'm not very fanatical about polishing / waxing cars but in working on the Boxster in the past few days I've noticed alot of fine scratches in the clear coat, time to do something about it.

It looks like Porter Cable has replaced the 7424 with the 7424XP. I think the XP may have a top speed of 11 instead of 10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbVKWCpNFhY
