Changed my ignition switch.. weird behavior

Hi,

Today was my first DIY on my Boxster, I changed ignition switch...
Easy job... but my back hurts after staying that long in un-natural position..

Everything works.. however:

When I turn off the engine and get the key off, my board is still lighted.. I can see mileage, MPH and clock.

If I lock the car it goes dark.. is this normal?.. I'm not sure it was the same before.

Also when taking Airduct out I noticed that it had small pieces of glass inside.... well some pieces of glass fell on my face. Anyone has any idea where it came from?

Thanks
Sasha
