Changed my ignition switch.. weird behavior
Hi,
Today was my first DIY on my Boxster, I changed ignition switch... Easy job... but my back hurts after staying that long in un-natural position.. Everything works.. however: When I turn off the engine and get the key off, my board is still lighted.. I can see mileage, MPH and clock. If I lock the car it goes dark.. is this normal?.. I'm not sure it was the same before. Also when taking Airduct out I noticed that it had small pieces of glass inside.... well some pieces of glass fell on my face. Anyone has any idea where it came from? Thanks Sasha |

lights staying on is normal. Mine stay on for several minutes.
No idea about the glass. |
Light operation is normal. You may not have seen it before because the ignition switch was bad - that's the funny thing about making such fixes. It may not have seemed faulty before and now you're seeing new things.
I suspect the glass is the result of a prior windshield that broke, vandalism maybe, and some of the chards got into the ductwork through the defoster registers, that's my guess anyway. Cheers! |
Thank guys, it was my first DIY (and first time I did something to a car besides changing a bettery) and I freaked out a little:)
