Have you looked at the Schnell bushings? They are aluminum, adjustable and have a nylon insert in them. I'm sure you could buy them separate from the SS kit. The only thing I did not do was check to see if the Schnell bushings fit the OEM shifter shaft. Was not an issue during the installation.

Beside, the bushings in my OEM 987 mechanism had zero play in them. I don't see how they were an issue.

I only drove a couple 986s, but the 987 OEM shift linkage is MUCH better.
