Rusty wheel bolts are common. Porsche was replacing them under the 4 year warranty.
There are 3 wheel bolts that have been used. The part numbers end in 00, 01, and 02. 00 was the first version. I assume 01 is less prone to rust. 02 started in 2004 and is used on the new Boxster. The bolt head is smaller on 02 so you are not supposed to mix them with 00 or 01 bolts on the same wheel do to weight reasons.
Some guys just remove the rust and paint them. I bought some when I removed the locking bolts and they were less than $6.
Rust below the vents and door strike also can happen.
If I paint them or something wouldn't it just rub off when I put them back on?

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.
