The Groceries in your Trunk thread
This is TWO mega bottles of Milk, two LARGE loaves of bread, one CASE of Gatorade, one CASE of Lipton Ice tea and one big ole bottle of detergent...
and yeah the rear trunk is empty. p.s. oh wow I figured out how to reduce the size of the picture. |
For a second there I thought the word after "big ole bottle of ____" would be regret cause I thought you were talking about the rear trunk lol. Milk would have got to ******************** in a hurry, but man isnt our front trunk AWESOME!
|
I went to take my brother to the airport and his suitcase wouldn't fit in my front trunk, at least not with it closed. He e-mailed me and asked me to pick him up on Friday in a car with a trunk. :)
I actually am really happy that my rolling bag I use for work fits perfectly in my back trunk. |
I went to Lowes this weekend... bought a leaf blower/vac... case of bottle water, trash can for under the kitchen sink and some other odds and ends...
fit the trash can in the front trunk, case of water in rear with odds and ends and leaf blower in the passenger seat!!! It always amazes me how much more storage room I have in the box than the M roadster!! I had many envious stares in the Lowes parking lot! |
Come on rookie! You can fit more than that in there. :D
I never fear a trip to Cotco, & I love the looks I get when I roll up to the Boxster with my cart full of TP, paper towels, case of water, case of yogurt, laundry detergent and other assorted items. My biggest haul to date, a new vacuum cleaner (in the front seat), a 14-piece cookware set (in the frunk) and a few things in the trunk. Love this car! |
Here is my shopping list from Sam's Club every weekend. My Pops and I use the 996 for grocery shopping. Almost everything fits in the front trunk.
10lbs. of strawberries(go on the floor of the rear seats) 4 bags of bananas 1 case of Nestle water bottles 2 honeydews 1 box of 2bags of Special K 1 box of 3 frozen pizzas(no trans fat) 2 gallons of fat free milk 1 pack of corn tortillas 1 3lb. bag of frozen mixed veggies 1pack of ground turkey 1 pack of chicken breast 8 cans of solid white albacore tuna It's packed to the MAX. I will have to take a picture next time. There is absolutely no space at all after we get it in. |
I had an M Roadster before the Boxster and learned the importance of trunk space. The dual trunks was actually a key reason for getting the Boxster. That and the fact I totalled the M Roadster at Sear's Point  .
When I go to the track, the Boxster is fitted with: - A full-sized tool box with just about all my tools - A second tool box w/ extra brake pads, lap timer, tire pressure gauge, pyrometer, serpentine belt, sparkplugs, brake fluid, wheel bolts, spacers, wheel chocks, magnetic numbers, etc. - Portable air compressor/battery - Windex and towels - Full-sized jack - 2 jack stands - 2 folding chairs - 22" overnight bag - Laptop backpack - 2 helmets, gloves, neck brace It's pretty amazing how much you can fit in there. |
Porsche with a surfboard
In one of my trips to LA, I was on the bus from the airport to Santa Monica and I saw this guy with his surfboard in his Porsche. Not a Boxster but only in LA. Actually this was the point where I attach photo and then find out it is way too big to post here and I don't have photoshop to reduce the size. I'll catch up with you guys later with that
|
What's sometimes pretty funny is when you've got enough groceries that you have to put some of the (nonperishable) stuff in back. If anybody notices you doing that, you can get some mystified looks as they try to figure where in heck Porsche put the engine.
One guy actually came up to me and asked about this. "It's powered by dilithium crystals." I told him. He looked perplexed, maybe even impressed for a couple secs...then we both started cracking up. |
I was able to fit an old colored iMac in the front trunk with enough room to spare for my two small duffle bags, and some random other things. The front trunk is awesome, and was a major factor is purchasing this car.

Haha! I like that one. When i get the "Where's the engine?" question, I always say "Oh, all the new Porshes use virtual engines. Really saves on gas mileage." They always get that look like "Woh! damn, where have I been?!" Then i get to tell them the awesome feeling of sitting on the engine. Gotta love mid-engine.

You don't need photoshop to reduce the size of pictures. Microsoft has a slick little tool you can download that will do the job for you (three different size choices). Go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and click on "ImageResizer.exe" |
atta boy ToolPants!
That what I'm talking about. Are you single ToolPants? Looks like a bachelors shoping adventure, beef sticks and bagel dogs! |
Its filled with stuff at least once a week...

Looks like stuff my brother buys. I think it's interesting to see what kind of groceries people have. And blinkwatt buys 10 pounds of strawberries every week! Wow. I wish I was that healthy. And I also think it's pretty cool that most people on this forum are male and are going to the grocery store. Please tell me where I find one of these men to go get my groceries for me because I DETEST going to the store. |
I have never itemized, but I get over $300 of groceries in the trunks without putting anything in the passenger seat.
My wife also hates grocery shopping, and I don't mind. But I do buy enuf stuff that I don't have to go very often. |

So.... I do most of the grocery shopping, cooking and loading the dishwasher. She does all the laundry and general cleaning. I think it is a fair trade, I have not done a load of laundry in 12 years. She can't stand cooking and I think it is relaxing to sit with a glass of wine and put together a nice dinner. Now.... I just have to find a way to get my 6 year old to eat like my 4 year old. |

Went to Lowe's last week for fertilizer, top soil, etc. I was amazed that I not only got all 6 bags to fit (4 in front, 2 in rear), but I had room for at least 2 or 3 more bags.
This car's beauty is more than skin deep!! |

Your dad is an exception, he really spoils your mom. It is going to be tough for your future boyfriends to live up to your dad. Very tough. You will have to lower your expectations. Things change when you get married.... get ready for compromise (toilet cleaning?) |
Hahaha, ideally I'd love to find a man to do all that, but really I'd be happy to marry a man I just truly love. Who does it all now? Me. But not very happily and often not very frequently. But I figure I can hire a maid if I marry a guy who just must have a clean toilet and won't clean it himself. But really, marriage, THAT is a scary word!
And yeah, my dad may be exceptional in some ways, but my mom pays for it in other ways! |
We are going way off topic now.
Pays for it in other ways? Ominous. Marriage? You are still young. You have plenty of time to play. Marriage scared me as well until I found my wife. You will know. Ok... I have to stop now. The other forum members will start picking on me if we stray too far from P-cars. I have to face Sammy and Nickcats at the autocross next week. |
I didn't mean that to sound as awful as it does when I said she "pays" in other ways. My dad can just be a real pain in the ass and he's also the king of farts!
|
Well LB, I guess I wouldn't be the good fit that hjkim550 says to find. Seems we have too many things in common. I hate shopping in general, grocery shopping in particular (I'll eat everything in my house before I go grocery shopping), I don't cook but I do BBQ, I try to keep things neat so I don't have to clean, and you're supposed to clean toilets? I do take out the trash, I do laundry but I probably mix things that I shouldn't, and I haven't ironed a shirt since Mutual of Omaha went business casual 4 yrs ago. I buy wrinkle free slacks and take my shirts out of the dryer early and let them dry flattened out on my extra bed.
We also have similar tastes in automobiles. ;) |
Ok that is better.
Paying for all the chores with farting? Big deal. All men are gaseous. You just have to realize that. If you are going out with a guy and he does not seem to be gaseous..... he is holding it in. He is still on his first 2 months best behavior. If he is walking funny and seems to be constipated.... let him know it is ok. You grew up with your dad. ;) |
Quote:
hjkim550, I know all men are gaseous! Shoot, women do it too (don't tell!) But my dad seriously is like way off the Richter scale. And my mom said he never was like that before they got married. Surprise, surprise! |
OMG! Flatulence, connubial servitude, hauling bags of manure in the Boxster...PERFECTLAP, LOOK WHAT HAVE YOU STARTED!
|
well where else was he can he sit when he's got dirty feet?!?!?!
|
the animal used in my previous post is a trained stunt dog and was paid a substantial bonus of 3 doggy chews.....please do not try this with your own pets.....thank you!
|
We raised two kids.
I changed 2 diapers and never got up at night. I never shop. I never cook. I never do laundry. I do all the car repairs, house repairs, and outside maintenance. My wife hates to work. I earn all the money. We have been enjoying life and marriage for 35 years. Kinda weird nowadays... |
All of you grocery toten' boxster owners are NUTS.
I keep my car out of grocery store and home improvement car park lots. I can pack a great deal in the trunks though! |

Moral of the story: stay in school :) |

|
I love it, what a forum. Groceries, hooking up, farts, toilet chores.....Fun!
:D Love that Pcar. Cheers:) |
PerfectLap seems so be able to start these threads better'n most. :)
|
I haven't been to the grocery store since this thread has started, but I fit in my front trunk pretty well.
