2000SoCalBoxsterS,
i made this, i believe the site that u can get a professional one is automotiverigs.com or something like that, they go from $800 and up....
PWebRPH, CT986S,
thx a lot, in person this color is better than what this camera can take.
Gary,
all that i got is 2 ssuction cups from harborfreights, and 2 poles that connect to eachother, and at the end of them you mount the camera. i need to extend the poles some more so that i can capture the whole car, at this point i can get about 90% of it hehehe.
there is no need to be flying down in the car to get the effect, these were taken with me setting the camera on a 10 second timer, and then just pushing the car slowly while the pic is being taken (with correct exposure and all). some people also like to just push it donw the hill lightly

Nice work, DJ. (We have come to expect nothing less from you!) That night shot is GORGEOUS.
What kind of wax do you use on your wheels?

you can find it at your local lexus dealer, or on their site, they also have a search feature to let you know where u can gt it from... www.wheelwax.com
if you liked the night shot, heres another one, maybe a little bit more action

I'd hate for my Nikon D3 to fall off while driving down the street

Thanks, DJ. I'll try some of the Wheel Wax.
You're right, I do like that second night shot even better than the first.
Like Gary, I'd like to see pics of the rig itself, especially of where the poles attach to the suction cup apparatus and where it attaches to the camera. How long are the poles? It seems like they're long enough to create a lot of leverage---to where, with the movement of the car and the weight of the camera, you'd get some adverse movement of the camera (ie movement relative to the vehicle, destroying your focus on the car). Obviously the set-up is more solid than it appears.
And speaking of which, where did they (the poles) come from? Are they made for mounting a camera on, or did you have to adapt somehow? Do they telescope to change length?

Agreed.
I could also see some doofus doing what DJ mentioned: pushin' the car down a slight hill that turned out to be steeper than he'd counted on. Couldn't you just see some guy chasin' a driverless Boxster down the street?? (Insert Three Stooges theme song music here...)

the shots that i took are in my driveway, and the car itself was only moved like no more than 5 feet total. so nothing dangerous at all....pretty much just a show to get the wheels to spin a little, thats all it takes to create the movement.
