Anyone who's ever driven one, the motoring press included, knows how good the Boxes are. As for the opinions of the rest of the great unwashed masses, who gives a rat's ass? No one I know has ever called my car cute. Smatter of fact, my very rich car collecting buddy said another friend's M4 coupe is "a girl's car compared to the Boxster". Nuff said.

Now I'm not sure as my hearing is rubbish but I'm think he calls the coolant tank cap in the trunk the fuel filler. And I also agree that he's a bit of shirt lifter.

Whoa, hey guys, didn't mean to rile everyone up. I think the reviewer meant it as a positive when he called the boxster cute. I was simply playing up the irony that "cute" sounds more like an insult to me

But if you watch the video, you'll see nothing is insulting to the boxster. In fact the review is overwhelmingly positive (as all boxster reviews tend to be).

You heard right. I was left wondering if porsche moved things around on non-US models. And I agree with all that you said

I don't mind hearing him call it "cute," but then I am a girl.

You know, I watched the video and thought he did an excellent job overall. Give him a German accent and I'd swear he was a Porsche factory representative!

My only beef was that he said that Porsche "stuffed" the 3.4 from the Cayman S in the new Boxster S... everyone knows there's no stuffing involved as the cars are virtually identical sans the hard top. But it makes for a good car review I guess.

And one last comment... he seems like a sensitive soul, but didn't strike me as light in the loafers... just Canadian (and I do not mean that in a mean-spirited way... he just doesn't have the farmer-bred, Southern drawl I'm used to hearing around here).

Most of the Canadians who come to my area are from Quebec area. I call them tadpoles - baby frogs.

Had some guy in a Vette a couple of months back pull beside me at a light. He had his hair combed over the bald head and his hotter than he deserved girlfriend in the car.

His windows were down as was my top. He looked over and said "nice girls car".

Only thing I could think to say was "Yeah, I was going to buy a Vette but they said my d*** was too long"

He was not happy but his girlfriend sure thought it was funny!

Can I steal this quote? It's brilliant! Living outside of town in Austin, TX, practically in the country, sport cars are a rarity and most of what you'll find are Vettes, Trans Ams and Camaros (if you can really count the latter two as sport cars). I respect the vette for it's performance but I'll never forget my brother referring to it as the "Rich Man's Camaro". It does have a bit of that cheapo Pontiac styling to it that screams "redneck at the wheel". Where I live though it's usually the guys in the F150s with a lift kit that want to race or give me ********************. But for every negative reaction I get in regards to my Boxster I get 20 more saying "nice car!" or "sweet ride!".

How is making fun of cars like Vettes, ZX350s, S2000s and the like any different than folks calling our cars, GIRL CARS?

They make many sports cars precisely because we have many different tastes.

These threads always make me wonder!

I can appreciate what these other cars offer without having to become defensive about what I drive.

Hey, no one's paying my bills for me so their opinion about what I drive is not important, no?

^ I agree. But I think there is a difference between initiating the negative comments (bad), and retaliating to a negative comment with a spot on remark that leaves the jerk bad mouthing your car speechless (good).

I don't have any issue with anyone bad mouthing my car. I am secure enough to understand that I like my car and the other person doesn't. Any comment he makes is about his own insecutity, not my car.

How can that upset. me I don't even know this guy? How could his opinion have any weight with me?
