Locked out of Boxster - HELP!!!

I've just got back from a 7 day holiday and cannot get into my 1998 Boxster. The remote light flashes but the car will not open. I tried the other remote but that does the same. When I try the key in the lock it will turn 90 degrees each way but will not unlock the car. The alarm light inside the car is flashing once every second or two. There is no sign of damage.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Might be a car battery that's too dead to operate the locks?

Thanks - but if I manually pull the cable to open the bonnet, will the alarm not go off?! Cheers.

Last year, I was locked out as well. The roadside assist people were able to get in using simple "lock-out" tools. A small nylon wedge was put between the right window and the top. Then a plastic coated bar was inserted to pull the door handle which opened the door. No damage at all.

Best of luck!

Which alarm lights in the car are flashing?

radio LED?

LED on the top of the dash?

Both?

Only the LED on top of the dash by the windscreen is flashing. Cheers.

The issue of opening the door when the battery is dead has come up on the forum before, and I'm sure at least one person told me the manual use of the door key will open the door, even if the battery is dead. If that's correct, there would appear to be another problem going on here.

Martmart, yes, I believe you're right about manually opening the front hood setting off the alarm - but that's going to be true as well for roadside assistance people opening your door. If your key won't turn off the alarm, you'll probably want to be prepared to deal with that. You may need to disconnect the battery (got your radio code?) until you can figure out what's going on.

On my 01, with the battery disconnected, I can lock and unlock the door with the key.

The horn for the alarm is on the driver's side of the battery and can be disconnected much easier than disconnecting the battery.
