The issue of opening the door when the battery is dead has come up on the forum before, and I'm sure at least one person told me the manual use of the door key will open the door, even if the battery is dead. If that's correct, there would appear to be another problem going on here.

Martmart, yes, I believe you're right about manually opening the front hood setting off the alarm - but that's going to be true as well for roadside assistance people opening your door. If your key won't turn off the alarm, you'll probably want to be prepared to deal with that. You may need to disconnect the battery (got your radio code?) until you can figure out what's going on.
