Is this diagnostic tool a good deal?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/product-description/B00009RAX7/ref=dp_proddesc_0/104-1877681-9462346?ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive

Will it even work on our cars? $100 off seems like a good price. Hehe...

It does the same functions & fits in the lockable center console storage area easily. I have it and it's never let me down. Check around on eBay,I ended up getting mine for $45 unopened and shipped.

My buddy has this one. I can attest that it DOES work with an 01 Boxster. I had a CEL back in January, and I used his code reader. (P1129 - reset it and it has not come back)

I like the OP's one, though, looks like it does have some code definitions in it. Although with this site and Renntech, you don't really need one that tells you what the code means. You just ask the Porsche forums!

I have the even smaller version of that one from autozone. I keep it in the car all the time it is a third of the size and does the same thing except tell you what the codes stand for. I just look em up here on the forum.. It is a good tool to have.

I was looking abound and noticed that few advertise that their product can scan "Generic Codes (P0, P2, P3, and U0) and Manufacturer Specific Codes (P1, P3, and U1)" Ok so what do those little letters and numbers mean. Can all of them stan Generic and Manufacturer codes?

Ditto! I think it was $35. Works on all modern OBDII cars. Very handy tool.
