I like it with the top up. When the top is down it might not look so elegant anymore.

I guess here we go with opinions again..everyone is different...hate to say it, but I love it!! I have been seeing this trend on very high end cars.. Lambos, Ferrraris,..etc. and wanted to do it to my wheels. Black with the red is hot. Just my opinion.

i guess its different because everyone wants to get some turbo twists and leave them as is, or similar 5 spoke wheels.
i really like multispoke wheels, and i love black, but it kinda blended in too much, so i wanted to break it up a little, and dont really want any green on my wheels
btw, its not painted on, its just a red pinstripe

I like how it breaks up the black on the wheels and tires, but I don't really like the red with your car. It doesn't compliment the Ocean Jade. Maybe another color would look better. Silver, possibly, or a light grey?

MY OPINION
The problem is that there is nothing to complement the red. If you had a red car, it'd look great, but it's very out of place.
Why red on your wheels but no green? Green matches your car at least. P-shop it and see how it looks

car is green, wheels and brakes are black/red.
if i wanted to compliment the wheels i would have painted them green, along with green brakes, green side vent grilles, green front grille, and while at it i would have got a custom green interior....
it owuld be way too much green

I don't see the calipers. I don't see any of the things you mentioned. All I see is a green car with black wheels and a red stripe.
I'm pretty sure that's what everyone else sees too.
Putting a green stripe does not mean, "LET ME PAINT EVERYTHING GREEN!", but it certainly matches your exterior a lot better than red. That's what I think.
Since you don't like green (ironically), staying with the black wheels might be good.

Looks like a collage to me. Just a bunch of stuff thrown on. Its kinda like this... The mona lisa is a good painting because its a girl and some light background, you are trying to have a girl, some light background, a helicopter in the back fighting a space robot, and some breakdancers from the 80's flopping around. Too much, tone it down. Simplicity is the foundation of elegance.
