convertible top indicator light

I bought a '98 Boxster about a month ago and got some great info. on this sight about a question I had concerning what position the convertible top latch should be in when the top is lowered. So, I figured I'd give my next question a shot even though I'm thinking I can guess at what the answer is going to be.

My top down indicator light is constantly on. The convertible top seems to be perfectly secured and latched and I had no problems with the top on a recent 2.5 hour trip on the highway. I'm assuming there is simply something wrong with the indicator light because the top seems perfectly fine. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to have someone look at the light and tell me they can't figure out the problem, so I figured I'd post the issue here and see if anyone had any suggestions I could try on my own.
