Mobile version? No thanks.

Google is forcing this, but I don't have to like it

In some browsers there's a desktop mode setting. Safari doesn't have this so I'm using Dolphin on my iPone 6 for sites that force mobile view. On the desktop site there's a pull down on the bottom left to change views. Nothing on the mobile site (yet).

still a bit buggy yet. need the ability to opt for the classic site, a working search function, access the user cp, some formatting issues (ie, the header overlaps with the search button). sort of a drap as it is right now.

You can thank Google for this. As of this week, Google requires that the site have an automatically loaded mobile theme, otherwise it will be delisted from the top of the page.

Here are some links to the stories:

https://www.google.com/search?q=google+mobile+friendly&espv=2&source=lnms &tbm=nws&sa=X&ei=sTM9VZXiE4KsoQS9loGoBg&ved=0CAcQ_ AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=935

We're working on tweaking the results and the template, but for now, there's nothing else we can do. Google will delist the site and it will die a slow painful death over the next several years if this is not put in place...

Hmm, after reading your comments here, it's clear that this "theme" is too buggy to deploy. My apologies. I will have my crew work in refining it this week so that it won't be that intrusive. I'll see if we can get it so that the disable mobile theme link is at the top, and once it's clicked, your settings are saved. I should have done that to begin with, but this whole Google thing has us a bit antsy.

thx,

Wayne

No problem

I figured it was the Google thing. Definitely don't want to decrease traffic due to Google search results since this is THE BEST 986 site on the web.

Google really needs to re-think this idea because most using smart phones would prefer full sites and if not, most sites have a mobile option.

I've got my guys working on it this week. It will be back, but there will be a "go to desktop button and never show this stupid thing to me again" button.

thx

Okay, the mobile version is back, but we spent a bunch of time cleaning it up, and more importantly putting a "Switch to Desktop View" at the top that makes it default to Desktop View for 24 hours after clicking that.

Sorry for the change, but Google is forcing this upon us. We have no choice.
