    Hi Wayne,
I read on one of your pages at Pelican, that the Boxster S 3.2 has stronger cylinders (or sleeves?) than do the base engines. I wanted to ask if this translates into a lower risk of cylinder failure (cracking? slipping?). Would this be a good reason to prefer an S over the base? ( I'm looking at a nice 1999 and a similarly nice, if not quite the bargain, 2001 S, both at about 40K.) I did notice that there were 3.2 cylinder failures reported on the "Short lived engines" thread here - and have posted a question there too. Do you know if anyone has estimates of rates of cylinder failures in 886 cars. (I have been reading up on the IMS matter so think I'm up to speed in that area.)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Am a new Boxster owner and your website and how-to articles (with great pics BTW) was an inspiration to help me to buy this car. I have never been happier SO FAR but at least I KNOW where to go to get her running! Wifey loved the jelly beans too with my first order, nice touch! And yet, you do not have friends. It must be from lack of trying. Thanks!

    Wayne,
There is a minor problem with threads that have "Likes" on it. If there are "Likes" on the thread and you select the upper left tab "986 Forum Menu" drop down some of the titles/links are blocked-out. If you try to go to any link below the blocked-out links the drop-down disappears.

Just bought a 2000 boxster tiptronic 2.7l and have enjoyed every minute. It drives like a dream however it appears that the rms is leaking. I am not a mechanic by any stretch, but would like to " get to know my car". Is this project for a pro or can I get through it on my own? My mechanic is looking for 3000 + and who knows what else he will encounter. Also, if it is something I can tackle, is there a list of tools that I will need? I would probably do the ims at the same time.
