She's my long time compatriot. A 1974 CB550. I used to do all kinds of buying and selling of motorcycles, you know "fliping". Don't find myself doing that anymore, but this bike has stayed around. Its the best bike I've ever had; just the best all around.







Finished hard mounting the cherrybombs to the trans cradle. Seems so weird not to hang an exhaust but the engine/trans move as one unit so does the exhaust.







And I started on my heater core return hard lines. As seen in red.

Heater core hardlines made up. They mate up to the Porsche soft lines.











I'm really stoked at how well and fast this is going. Not much more but to route the coolant outlet to the Porsche outlet. Then rebuild the engine/clean everything up, and turn the key.

THEN on to "stage II". I gotta rebuild like everything else... ugg. But that's just spending money on suspension/tires no real hard work.

Well, I just gotta say that I thought that getting the engine to fit in the 986 was going to be the challenge... BOY was I wrong. That was super easy compared to making a draw through M90!! But its done now

^^^ that is a 3/4" chunk of aluminium that has holes drilled in it.




^^^ there is the blower with a spread bore/square bore plate bolted to it.

FINALLY done with fabrication/welding. (except for the A/C hoses)

The supercharger and carburetor are all mounted up. and the belt is routed... note the poor picture addendum LOL










^^^^ that's a stock idler pulley... I just happened to find a little hole in the ac bracket that had just the right threading and just the right spacing to make for PERFECT supercharger belt wrap.

Waiting for the machine shop seems to take forever. But it'll be worth the wait when I have that clean block.

In the mean time I got a fuel tank. And re-furbished it a little. Should fit in the back trunk; at least I hope it fits in the back trunk.

Nothing... but it don't hold propane LOL

This is gonna be a duel fuel machine. LP and gasoline. I figure I've already got a super tall engine; why not make it taller with an LP mixer.


Got some new brake hoses in the mail... and installed them




^^^ don't think the old ones were bad, but I'd rather not risk a caliper over 20 mins worth of work.

New struts and mounts came in today. The old ones.... well they weren't doing ANY dampening at all.


Also, I got some new control arms. Man, this thing is gonna handle like OEM.

Due to my grey interior I can't really paint the car BR green (or in the Porsche world Irish green). Wimbledon green was the runner up, but lately I've been thinking its too much effort to color change a car and not get the color I want. SO I've settled on just a simple re-spray of the silver paint. Because of this I've decided to paint my turbo twist wheels "cliché black".

They came out alright. There was a small issue with the base fish eying, but I think I nabbed it and hid it under the clear.





Still just waiting for the machine shop... If I get more body work done before the machine shop finishes I think I'm just gonna pull a random 4.3 block from the junk yard and slap it in there.

Pre-cut window tint. The drivers side was a little bit short, but looks fine when the window scrapers are on. $12 for both sides; not so bad when you think that its $10 for enough tint for a pair of windows. Its 25% VLT; state law is 27.5% but hopefully it won't draw attention for the $500 per window fine.

I finished mocking up my plexiglass rear bulkhead. I'm supprised how well a 24x48 inch sheet fits back there. If I didn't have a super tall engine I coulda almost just run strait 24 inches of height.








Ya'll got any tips on cutting plexiglass??? I got a plexiglass specific jigsaw blade, but I'm open for words of wisdom or experience.

No pro but we cut it on a metal shear, bend on a brake. Use wood or cement drill bits and tape before. Main use for me is making machinery guards. Ymmv...

Should I keep the protective wax paper stuff on while I'm cutting or should I pull it off and tape the lines I need to cut?


Fortunately other than a weird contouring cut along the roof line I don't think I'm gonna have to bend it at all. I also got special plexi drill bits. I'm excited to learn a new fab skill.

Keep the protective film/paper/plastic on until you’re ready to install to keep it from getting scratched up. Use tape if it’s bare. Go slow with the drill and blades.
