Out of the blue...into the black…
Battery/Generator (Alternator) warning came up!
Was wondering, a few days before, that my battery did not recharge after a drive, rear lights were almost unnoticeable flickering, Voltmeter slowly going under 12V. Looked up my battery invoice (from 8 YEARS ago) and thought it might be the culprit...it was the alternator (after almost 20 years).
uhm...brand new BOSCH OEM alternator plus BOSCH battery…KA-CHING!!!
not cheap that stuff
LIKE A BOSCH...

WOW! Never thought it could work! Leather swap. It is tricky, but I cracked the secret code.
Don't disassemble the vents, they are not meant to be!
The trick is: It all can be done from the front!
1.) Disconnect the connector carefully first.
2.) Pop the louvers carefully from the slanted side (facing towards the door) with a screwdriver, access them from above, pushing towards the middle. They will "pop" from their mounting holes.
3.) NO WORRIES...they all have a TINY number imprinted (except of the leather cover ones for obvious reasons) to keep the order for reassambly.
4.) Reassembly: pop all louvers (in order) into that connector FIRST.
5.) Carefully fiddle all pins into the mounting holes of the "INNER" side first.
6.) Carefully pop the other side one-by-one back in, on the other side (little force required, but not too much)

The plan is the following:
1.) Seal gray base
2.) Medium silver painted headlight trim (prefer a nickel plating, but asking ain't getting)
3.) modded chrome trim for the blinker
4.) washer peek holes, and washer jets in seal gray
plus:
5.) external yellow fog lights
6.) thin DRLs intergrated into the alu bumper trim
lol

Sneak peek...
Yes, you can notice the clear headlights (pic 3), if you really want to, but only from a certain angle.
Could they improve it? Yes at the cost of looseing the 4mm gap impression.
Fitment in general? Pretty good. flexible but sturdy PU.
Can you easily mod the covers to your likeing? Of Course.

They do look good. Can't wait to see them painted. At that price $400+ the should fit perfectly though. I can't understand why they let that gap through quality control.
It stuck out like a sore thumb on red. 🤦****♀️

Thank you, JB. And you are right, for +400$ one could expect a PERFECT fit.
As you can see, I ALWAYS need to mod stuff even it it is expensive. Not only because it needs trimming, but mostly for designs.
Can't help it. Even the smallest details are often very important to me. Others again not so much.
But all in all, these are the best covers I came across … by far.

hmm...very nice idea
Cool thing is, I could create any kind of inlay or frame and stick it in there.
The original cuts out were a bit too tiny for my taste.
Atm, I am still waiting for all the headlights washer pieces to arrive. Got to get them installed first, before I will make the final adjustments to the covers.
Then, copy it to the other piece and bring it to an open paintshop of my trust.
...it might take a little while.
