Hi Folks!
I figure it's time to say hello. I've been lurking around here since May of last year, when I acquired my '02 Boxster S 6-speed. It's my first Porsche, but not my first German water-cooled boxer-powered car. I had a 2.1L vanagon for many years, and while it was a vastly different experience *driving*, it's actually remarkably similar to work on... I've always done 100% of my own car maintenance and repairs, and this car has been pretty fun to wrench on!
So, here it is: 130,000 miles when I bought it, but it had been sitting for a couple years since the PO didn't really know what to do with it... he only drove it about 1000 miles in the 3 years he owned it! The service records were incomplete but enough to tell the car had been maintained more than most. On day one I ordered my durametric and IMSB replacement, and last month changed out the variocam wear pads.
There have been other minor maintenance things here and there, as to be expected with a 23-yo car. Old rubber and plastic parts are what they are. But it's been a fun to work on and a blast to drive!
