what did I get myself into again? Another project?
I guess so, opportunity was knocking on eBay
2 cocoa brown door cards, in good condition...although they smell a little musty atm (manageable I think).
I am pretty sure, that the door cards are made out of 2 pieces each...upper leather...lower carpet.
Keeping them in one piece, started Project "recover & preserve".
No hurry with that project.

OPERATION "COCOA" is in full swing...
in the meantime, these arrived…
...from srpracing.com
Custom made from an old design (the stripes resemble the gauges' orange, perfect) . Heel ;-) 'n' toe is much easier now

the courtesy lights:
With the new door cards, i would like to make them work WITHOUT installing complete new harnesses.
Does anyone have an idea, where to attach the new wires possibly? Or do I have to run them all the way up front to the door connector (which would suck)?

(marone brown) real alcantara on rubber grommet ...forget regular spray glue, it does not work. I used 1k-PU-glue...it bonds just everything.

End of October, 11°C and the TOP is still down.
Gear indicator is FINALLY integrated (cover in the making) where the mic usually would sit. Still needs to be programmed though...but I made it work.
The trick was...magnetic holders... and a little wire to make it move out of the way, when I need to access the torx behind it.
That took quite some brains to figure out a workable and sturdy solution. Dremel still is your best friend here.
And yes, the orange 7 is photoshopped (future project). TAG HEUER like logo and a silver circle (356 like) will find their way in that design, too.
The plan is to create UV resistent stencil stickers instead of a new gauge face. Want to keep it simple.
Oh and btw., my Cocoa brown SE Dashboard cover is finally in place.

Very intersting. Would it be legal in the US to move the indicator light in the headlamp? For example if you replace the sidelight with the indicator light? So in other words replace the sidelight function with the indicator light? Than you could make the whole indicator light and headlampwasherarea also red.

You woukd need to add turn signals somewhere. Probably lower them into the bumper.

Yeah! That is exactly what i thought of.
Don't the US cars have parking lights in the main front head lamps like the EU cars? If you rewire them to be the indicator lights and put orange bulbs in, that could be the solution (if this would be allowed where you live).
Or maybe the parking lights could be rewired to be parking lights when the indicator is off and be indicator lights when the indicator is on.

If your talking about the side marker lamps, they do not flash and in the US you can't use them as turn signals even if they did. The LED turn light hook right up to the factory turn signal with this:

This is something I'm playing around with. Mesh turn signal covers. Just laying on headlight in primer on a old faded amber headlight but you can get the idea.

BRAN, I just found this thread and spent an hour reading it from beginning to end. Wow, I seriously love everything you have done with your car. You and JBauer have done excellent work. Thanks for taking the time to do all this, and posting it for us to enjoy.
I would love to see some shots of how your car looks now. I went through the whole thread and there are some great pictures, but I want to see your best picture! A picture that belongs on the cover of a magazine? Why, because your car is that beautiful. Have you ever taken it to some shows? I have no doubt it would win.
Thanks again

Ah, OK, so the sidemarkers are no indicators in the US. Over here in Germany they are indicators only. Is it allowed to use them as sidemarkers and indicators the same time in the US?

Thank you! It still is not finished...will it ever be? Hopefully I will be able to do that in 2019, or 2020 before it turns 20.
But there are always new plans popping-up on the to-do list...
...e.g. like those (photoshop)
Merry Christmas and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
